UPVC Replacement Door Handles
Over time the handles on your doors will get worn out and require replacement. It is essential to match the dimensions of the handles that were previously used when replacing them.
The three measurements to check are the top screw position as well as the key hole and lever sizes. Use the size guide to help you.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever door handle is a contemporary handle that can be installed on replacement or new doors. This style door handle is available in a variety of styles and finishes. A number of manufacturers make this type of handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The uPVC/Composite door handles are constructed of durable materials and are ideal for multi-point lock doors that require a strong design. The handles are inline and use the same spindle and screws to secure them. They can be easily mounted on a new or existing uPVC/Composite door.
The handle can be placed and angled to fit any user. The handle has been endurance tested to 200,000 cycles, which allows for the assurance of the quality of the finish and the performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever can be shortened to fit more locks. This is especially useful for narrower door frames where the cylinder is further back. A shorter lever is an ideal choice for doors where the latch can be operated by a thumb turn on the inside.
Lever Pad
A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc functions differently to the lever type handles found on most doors. These handles are operated by a single spindle or by two spindles inline or offset. They are usually used on UPVC double-glazed doors and come in many variations & finishes.
The handles are available in a variety of finishes including White chrome and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with a high performance and durability to serve its intended purpose.
All of the UPVC lever pad designs are supplied with a spindle and screws that allow them to be installed on an existing or new uPVC door. The backplate fixing centres of 211mm allow for a wider handle, which can often be a benefit when replacing a damaged or worn multi point door lock mechanism. The handle levers come with a spring, which solves the problem of handles for doors that slide out of horizontal position when they are not being used.
It is crucial to match up the dimensions of the PZ for both the multipoint lock and the uPVC doors when selecting a replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is also called the 'handle centre' or 'cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect to match the right handles.
After you have identified the proper PZ size it is important to make sure that the push and lever pads are designed to fit the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles you require for your door. They are usually rectangular or round in shape with an internal lever and external push pad.
Most of the UPVC lever pads we sell are sprung, meaning that they return to their horizontal position when they are not in use, rather than hanging out and possibly securing in the frame. This keeps draughts out of the building. The majority of UPVC lever pad handles come in both left and right handed versions, allowing them to be installed on either side of doors.

Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other kinds of doors. They operate by using a key to unlock a cylinder case which then reveals pins which can be aligned with the pins inside the lock body, allow them to rotate a revolving cam, thus opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with internal and external doors usually requiring different levels of security.
The choice of the correct cylinder is essential; it is dependent on how your doors and handles are utilized. For instance, doors that are external should be fitted with a higher security cylinder, while doors inside can be secured with the standard cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders come with additional features that can improve security even more, like anti-drill or anti-bump properties.
To ensure that the euro cylinder is the correct size for your door, it must be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the central fixing screw hole to the other end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. It is best to do this with the lock in place, but if this is not feasible, you can take it off and remove it to take measurements. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon could be vulnerable to attacks such as snapping locks, so it is crucial that it is not too long.
The majority of modern cylinders have been made with anti-drill and bump resistance features built into their design. They are designed to decrease the chance of a attack by causing the cylinder to rotate in an opposite direction. This helps stop the attack and keep your doors safe.
Certain cylinders are made to resist snapping. This is a common occurrence on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the break line of the lock, and then the front of cylinder is snapped off. This is faster and easier to achieve than gaining access through multipoint locks and leaves no evidence of a break-in, which can hinder an insurance claim.
Spring Cassette
This spring cassette is located in the base plate of the door handle. It is a spring-loaded solution to bring your multipoint lock handles to their normal position after use. The handles were previously equipped with no spring and would droop when the locking mechanism was disengaged. This simple feature is one of the best ways to correct this and it is also an effective way to keep your upvc doors from getting stuck in the open or closed position, since they aren't always easy to manually close by hand.
These spring cassettes were created to be used with a sprung multipoint locks. They will not fit handles that aren't sprung and you'll have to cut a hole into your backplate for them to fit. (Please look at the image for a technical diagram). They are a replacement for existing damaged or missing cassettes inside the backplates of door handles of various brands of uPVC doors. They have a square cut out which accommodates an 8mm spindle and they are supplied individually.
